Telehealth is “a collection of means or methods for enhancing health care, public health, and health
education delivery and support using TeleCommunications Technologies” (TeleHealth Resource Center).
At Online Chiro, we provide this technology through our Telehealth platform. Telehealth is a secure HIPAA- and HITECH-compliant video platform. It gives you the ability to interact with patients from virtually anywhere.
People have become open to technology-based solutions. Telehealth is appealing to younger populations as they are more receptive to technology-based health services. Telehealth is the use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health and health administration.
Telehealth operates over a completely secure, HIPAA compliant online platform. There are business associate agreements in place with our data center to guarantee any sensitive information generated on the site is secured to HIPAA standards. Policies and procedures also include the administrative, technical, and physical safeguards required for the security of protected health information when using electronic health IT. We also train our staff on HIPAA standards and conduct annual risk assessments to ensure our solution is HIPAA compliant.
Providers in the network provide their bank account and routing number for patient payments to be deposited directly into their bank account. We use a payment processor to facilitate credit card payments between patients and their providers. Providers can charge patients their normal fees, or adjust their fees as they see fit. Providers can bill their patients after a session, and funds are held for a minimum of 7 days. Payments are then deposited into the provider’s bank account at the end of every Friday.
By law, Telehealth services are currently reimbursable through Medicare and Medicaid in over 40 states. There are 23 states that have legislation requiring commercial insurance to reimburse for telehealth. Every state has different laws, regulations, and conditions. Contact your telehealth resource center for more information.
Studies show that Telehealth not only provides a comfortable, secure setting for care but can also help improve outcomes.
To use Telehealth all you need is a computer with a built-in camera and an adequate internet connection.
While Telehealth video software can function effectively at very low bandwidth levels, we recommend that users have 3mbps DOWN and 3mbps UP.
